Default Removing the EVAP solenoid, any tricks?

Hey all, so my CAI arrived and during the install I am finding it a little difficult to remove the EVAP solenoid from the stock air intake tube. Any suggestions? It appears that the solenoid is mounted by passing through a small rubber gromet, for lack of a better way of describing it.

The part that passes through the gromet is like a one way, arrow shaped part so it makes it difficult to pull it in the reverse direction, backwards out of the gromet. I know you all have done this multiple times so I was just wondering if there are any particular tricks you could recommend?

Thanks in advance all!
