Default new tC owner

I bought an '08 tC in silver with automatic, and so far, I really like it.

I am a freelance TV director/editor, somewhat over the "age-market" Scion is looking for, but I feel the car is very stylish and sporty, gets good gas mileage, and hopefully, will be very reliable.

Default new tC mpg

I average 30-33 mpg, on a tankful, BUT, I travel almost 80 miles round trip every day; 400 miles per week; mostly hiways @ 55-65 mph. Very little "city" stop and go; unless there's traffic.
I almost bought the "super white", but at the last minute changed to the silver, because it was "sooo bright". I wish they offered more "light" colors--all the colors are so dark, and after 15 years of owning 3 black cars--I've had it with dark colors!
I imagine it would be difficult to get in/out of the back seat, but I'm alone now, so if I could have saved $100 by having the passenger seat removed--I would have done that!
This is only my 2nd Japanese car since the mid-eighties (I had a new Nissan Maxima for 10 years--and 180,000 miles), but 'skyrocketing' Japanese car prices kept me away after that. I hope this has the same 'reliability' as my Maxima. So far, with only 2000 miles, I'm happy!

damn your lucky.. i drive in florida but mostly in small city. last time i averaged my miles i was making about 22-23. maybe i just lay on the pedal to hard too lol. have any of you put any aftermarket parts on? i haven't yet but am trying to figure out the best options for the scion. my boyfriend drives an srt-4 with upgraded turbo but i can't afford to turbo the scion! i drove a 98 maxima before this car and it was reliable but i was glad to get rid of it.

I have an SRT-4 also and nothing is cheap on any car these days, I saw the new turbo Scion the other night. Very nice cars like to see some pics.

Default upgraded tC

Everything I have read/heard about the engine upgrade (supercharger) was favorable, except the price. Almost $3000 for the kit, plus the labor; you can be close to $4000 when finished! Add the $21,000+ for the new car, and you are in Mini Cooper supercharged, Audi 1.8 turbo, etc. territory! What the SRT-4 turbo doesen't give you is reliability in the long haul, and, I think the tC is "screwed" together much better from the beginning. I may be speaking way to early, with only 2500 miles on the car, but these New York/New Jersey roads that I travel, really can "beat" the heck out of suspension parts. We have Civic's/Corolla's/Mazda 3's, all over the place with a ton of years/mileage on them!
